BGTRFC completed 32 passes(!) in the build-up to Boris Kopitović‘s 100th goal.

  • >> [GFC] Getting To Know: BG Tampines Rovers Midfielder Joel Chew | Jul 2024

Q: How have you been doing since your injury? Has this recovery period been harder or easier than you imagined?

I’ve been doing good but this recovery period has been harder than I imagined and every time I feel like I’m going to return to action, something else will come up due to the injury. 😅 So yea, it’s been tough.

Q: What has been the most challenging aspect(s) of the recovery process?

I think rehabbing alone and watching the team from the gym is not the best feeling in the world as you want to be on the field with them.

Q: Who or what has helped you physically and mentally the most to help you through this period?

I think having a supportive circle of friends and teammates and the physios such as Kak Fizah have really helped me during this time and encouraged me to keep going. Not to forget my partner and family as well, of course, as they have always made things better throughout this period.

Q: Do you have any message for other sports people who are undergoing similar injury / recovery experiences?

Don’t give up! It’ll be worth it! 👍🏼

  • >> [SPL] Lion City Sailors 3-0 Tanjong Pagar United | 7 Jul 2024

LCS played 18 passes to their wide player on the left vs. 8 passes to the right in LCS 3-0 TPU.

It could be that TPU were marking Lestienne tighter, so in response LCS went left more often.

Or by going left, it forces the opposing team to move to the ball thus giving the right winger more space to advance in anticipation of a switch in play.

    Why not both? 😄

  • >> [SGWPL] Match Commentary: GIWT 0-3 ALBWT | 30 Jun 2024, 1930hrs, CCK Stadium

    • FT: GIWT 0-3 ALBWT
    • 87′: GIWT surge foward in numbers. No.7 Farhanah chases the ball down the right hand channel and crosses the ball into the ALBWT box. But her teammates are just a bit slower than her and the ABLWT GK reaches the ball first.

      GIWT 0-3 ALBWT
    • 86′: Free kick to GIWT. No.7 Farhanah(?) almost scores with a header but the ball goes out of play to the right of the goal.

      GIWT 0-3 ALBWT
    • 83′: GWIT No.20 Sarka drives into the ALBWT half by herself and makes it to the edge of the ABLWT box. She cuts the ball back to No.7 Farhanah. Farhanah has to make a low-sweeping kick to connect with the ball. She misses the target and the ball is collected by the ALBWT GK.

      GIWT 0-3 ALBWT
    • 80′: GOOOAL FOR ALBWT!!!

ALBWT GK goal kick down the centre near the halfway line. No.14 Kitahara flicks the ball onto the path of No.29 Mulan on the left. Mulan outruns her marker and slots the ball into the far post. Goal!

      GIWT 0-3 ALBWT
    • 74′: GIWT has called in No.17 Azreena to replace No.2 Siti Fathimah. A striker for a defender – it’s now or never.

      GIWT 0-2 ALBWT
    • 67′: The GIWT GK is down and is receiving treatment on the pitch.

ALBWT No.14 Kitahara was rushing into the six-yard box to score but left a trailing leg, hitting the GIWT GK on her way out. The ref approaches Kitahara and has a word with her for earlier incidents of rough play.

GIWT GK is okay now and is back up.

      GIWT 0-2 ALBWT
    • 63′: GIWT No.10 makes another run down the left. This time, ALBWT No.99 Rosnani tackles the ball out for a corner.

      GIWT 0-2 ALBWT
    • 54′: GOOOAL FOR ALBWT!!!

ABLWT No.18 Fukuzawa flies into the six-yard box and heads the ball into the far post from a No.5 Irsalina cross on the right. Turning the screws slowly but surely, they are.

      GIWT 0-2 ALBWT
    • 53′: GIWT No.10 Farah takes flight down the left channel. She evades ALBWT No.17’s tackle and reaches the ALBWT penalty box only to be crowded out by a mass of returning ALBWT players.

      GIWT 0-1 ALBWT
    • 51′: ALBWT Mulan takes a free kick near the edge of the GIWT box on the left. The ball is too well hit and it flies out of play.

      GIWT 0-1 ALBWT
    • 47′: Did ALBWT No.13 Sun Jie bring down a through on goal GIWT No.20 Sarka in the ALBWT penalty box? Ref says no.

      GIWT 0-1 ALBWT
    • 46′: ABLWT No.29 Mulannnnn is on the field in place of No.2 Moden. And she’s pressing the GIWT backline with her scary pace.

GIWT No.3 Hamizah does well to circle the ball around and escape her press.

      GIWT 0-1 ALBWT
    • 2H K.O.: Stick to the plan or activate Plan B?

      GIWT 0-1 ALBWT
    • HT: GIWT 0-1 ALBWT
    • 43′: The ALBWT forward line know each other too well. Their movement and passing is cutting through the GIWT lines and creating an uncomfortable amount of half-chances.

      GIWT 0-1 ALBWT
    • 40′: ALBWT No.14 Kitahara trips GIWT No.7 Farhanah from behind at the halfway line. No foul, says the ref. Boo! (PG-rated translation) goes the GIWT crowd.

      GIWT 0-1 ALBWT
    • 35′: Goal kick for ALBWT. GIWT captain No.3 Hamizah shouts (from the backline) for GIWT forward No.20 Victoria Sarka to fall back.

      GIWT 0-1 ALBWT
    • 30′: GOOOAL FOR ALBWT!!!

ALBWT No.18 Fukuzawa sprints into the GIWT penalty box with the ball on the left. She slots it into the far post out of reach for the GIWT GK.

      GIWT 0-1 ALBWT
    • 25′: ALBWT No.2 Monden makes a strong run into the GIWT penalty box on the right. She shoots on target but the GIWT GK is there to make the save.

      GIWT 0-0 ALBWT
    • 20′: A bit of shoving going on between GIWT No.10 Farah and ALBWT No.30 Maisarah while the ball is being set up for a free kick inside the GIWT half. Not what you’d want to see this early in the game tbh.

      GIWT 0-0 ALBWT
    • 15′: ALBWT No.14 Kitahara lifts the ball into the GIWT box from the half space on the right and plays No.18 Fukuzawa through on goal. GIWT GK catches the ball with both hands and the GIWT crowd applauds her.

      GIWT 0-0 ALBWT
    • 10′: GIWT No.6 just took a blast to the body from a ALBWT shot near the penalty spot. GIWT is finding it hard to breakout of their own half. Not that it’s a problem given their previous game against LCSWT.

      GIWT 0-0 ALBWT
    • 7′: ALBWT No.30 Maisarah is through on goal just outside the six-yard box but GIWT GK makes a diving save.

GIWT keeping a compact low block in defence.

      GIWT 0-0 ALBWT
    • 5′: ALBWT gets the first corner of the night at the edge of the GIWT penalty box on the left. ALBWT No.7 Izah steps up to take it. She delivers the ball into the mixer but it is kicked out to safety.

      GIWT 0-0 ALBWT
    • K.O.: GIWT 0-0 ALBWT

    • 5 mins to K.O.: I guess LCSWT will be hoping for a 0-0 draw.
    • 25 mins to K.O.: Both teams are out on the pitch doing their warm-ups. It’s bright green vs. bright orange.

GIWT new signings No.4 Kyra Taylor, No.14 Nadhra Aqilah and No.20 Victoria Sarka are all on the pitch.

I think I spotted the return of Mulannnnn Ayliffe to ALBWT but will have to confirm later. (Update: It is her!)
    • 90 mins to K.O.: What to expect:
      • GIWT will be without their captain, No.11 Mastura, who is out with a complete ACL tear from their last game against LCSWT. Who knows? Maybe GIWT will fight even harder without their captain on the field in order to cheer her up.
      • ALBWT will be missing forward No.8 Noralinda. They are tied with LCSWT for points and trail them by 22 goals on goal difference. There is no way they can make it up within this game but a win and three points will certainly keep the pressure up on the league leaders.
    • 5 hours to K.O.: DEATH MATCH OF THE SEASON! 2nd placed ALBWT take on a resurgent GIWT in a must-win game for both teams if they are to challenge LCSWT for the title. No favours will be given here, it’s gonna be a fight to the final whistle for all three points.

  • >> [SGWPL] Match Commentary: TBWT 0-13 LCSWT | 29 Jun 2024, 1700hrs, CCK Stadium

    • FT: TBWT 0-13 LCSWT
    • 91′: LCSWT No.7 Cara Chang grabs a goal just before the final whistle is blown. LCSWT is back.

      TBWT 0-13 LCSWT
    • 87′: LCSWT No.4 Umairah makes a rare run into the TBWT penalty box on the right. She crosses the ball to the far side but LCSWT No.7 Cara Chang is unable to control it.

      TBWT 0-12 LCSWT
    • 86′: LCSWT No.16 Ho Hui Xin just got dispossessed by a mob of TBWT players in the TBWT semi-circle.

      TBWT 0-12 LCSWT
    • 78′: LCSWT No.8 Wani bears down on goal on the right just outside the six-yard box. She takes a shot and the TBWT GK Vanessa Tan has to stretch sideways off the ground to parry the effort.

Shortly after, she follows up with a double save, stopping LCSWT No.5 Miray Altun from scoring.

And after that, she makes another save from LCSWT No.12 Josephine Ang.

      Busy day in the office.

      TBWT 0-12 LCSWT
    • 76′: GOOOAL FOR LCSWT!!!

This game wouldn’t be complete without a long-range blast from LCSWT No.4 Umairah. She strikes the ball from just above the centre circle inside the TBWT half. It’s perfectly hit – the ball arcs into the back of the TBWT goal – just out of reach of the TBWT GK.

      TBWT 0-12 LCSWT
    • 67′: HATTRICK!!!

LCSWT No.12 Josephine Ang takes a free kick at the edge of the TBWT penalty box on the left. She lifts the ball cleanly and the ball sails into the TBWT goal. Second hattrick of the day.

      TBWT 0-11 LCSWT
    • 59′: GOOOAL FOR LCSWT!!!

LCSWT No.32 Ain chases the ball all the way to the goal line and stops it from going out on the right inside the TBWT penalty box. She sends it back to LCSWT No.24 Nurhidayu Naszri who lifts it up for No.12 Josephine Ang to head it into goal. TEN-nil.

      TBWT 0-10 LCSWT
    • 53′: Immediately after that run, LCSWT Coach Daniel urges the ball to be played out to the right towards LCSWT No.8 Wani. The TBWT team is stretched across the pitch and LCSWT wants to make the most of it. LCSWT No.32 Ain gets the ball from No.8 and she makes her own run down the right. She shoots but the ball hits the side netting.

      TBWT 0-9 LCSWT
    • 52′: TBWT No.28 makes a solo run down the right flank into the LCSWT half but she has to fend off three LCSWT defenders. She takes a shot near the corner of the LCSWT penalty box but it is too weak to trouble LCSWT GK Shakira.

      TBWT 0-9 LCSWT
    • 51′: GOOOAL FOR LCSWT!!!

Second-half substitute LCSWT No.12 Josephine Ang runs through the centre of the TBWT box and scores her first goal.

      TBWT 0-9 LCSWT
    • 46′: GOOOAL FOR LCSWT!!!

LCSWT No.32 Ain does well to dribble through her marker on the right flank. She runs down the channel and into the edge of the TBWT box on the right. With her back towards goal, she lays the ball off to LCSWT No.8 Wani. Wani crosses it in from outside the penalty box. The first attempt at scoring fails but No.23 nudges it into the goal.

      TBWT 0-8 LCSWT
    • 2H K.O.: TBWT 0-7 LCSWT

      New half. New start.
    • HT: TBWT 0-7 LCSWT
    • 45+1′: GOOOAL FOR LCSWT!!!

What a goal. LCSWT No.32 Ain crosses the ball from outside the TBWT penalty box on the right. No.23 Sarah Z. receives it near the six yard box on the left and hits it home for her fourth.

      TBWT 0-7 LCSWT
    • 43′: TBWT GK No.24 Vanessa Tan takes a goal kick. The ball reaches TBWT No.28 inside the LCSWT half. She heads it forward and tries to chase it down by herself but the LCSWT defence gets to the ball first.

      TBWT 0-6 LCSWT
    • 40′: Occasionally, LCSWT No.9 Raeka Ee would play a false 9 role and drop into midfield to contest for the ball before returning to the front line. Work rate 💯.

      TBWT 0-6 LCSWT
    • 38′: The HUWT coach has just arrived and is sitting at the left side of the stands. Moody fella, huh.

      TBWT 0-6 LCSWT
    • 33′: HATTRICK!!!

LCSWT No.23 Sarah Z. wins possession inside the TBWT box again from a TBWT restart! She strikes the ball confidently and scores her third goal.

      TBWT 0-6 LCSWT
    • 30′: TBWT No.28 beats LCSWT No.76 in a 1v1 near the centre circle inside the LCSWT half. She runs with the ball and drifts left towards goal. Unfortunately, she decides to take a speculative shot from way outside the box and LCSWT GK has no problem saving the shot.

      TBWT 0-5 LCSWT
    • 27′: GOOOAL FOR LCSWT!!!

TBWT GK No.24 Vanessa Tan blocks a shot but the ball falls near LCSWT No.23 Sarah Z.. She chips the ball into the goal from three yards out for her second of the game.

      TBWT 0-5 LCSWT
    • 26′: GOOOAL FOR LCSWT!!!

LCSWT No.20 Dorcus Chu takes a solid first touch off a rebound just beyond the penalty spot and scores.

      TBWT 0-4 LCSWT
    • 21′: GOOOAL FOR LCSWT!!!

LCSWT No.23 Sarah Z. wins possession of the ball inside the TBWT penalty box on the left. She dribbles forward a couple of steps before unleashing a curler into the far post. Goal!

It’s gonna be a looong evening for commentators.

      TBWT 0-3 LCSWT
    • 18′: GOOOAL FOR LCSWT!!!

LCSWT No.9 Raeka Ee storms through the midfield and into the TBWT box. With no one left to mark her, she shoots and scores!

      TBWT 0-2 LCSWT
    • 15′: The ball has passed the halfway line twice so far for TBWT. TBWT No.11 Syakirah is left upfront in case a through ball comes her way.

LCSWT seems to be overhitting a lot of their chances though with a few balls going over the net.

      TBWT 0-1 LCSWT
    • 5′: GOOOAL FOR LCSWT

14 year-old No.32 Ain gets on the scoresheet with a shot at the eight-yard mark on the right into the far post.

TBWT had been effective at clearing the ball up to that point.

      TBWT 0-1 LCSWT
    • K.O.: TBWT 0-0 LCSWT

    • 5 mins to K.O.: I was wrong! TBWT GK No.24 Vanessa is going to start for TBWT. GLHF!
    • 15 mins to K.O.: It looks like LCSWT GK No.22 Beatrice Tan is not goalkeeping for LCSWT this evening (HAPPY BIRTHDAY!). No.1 Shakira is taking her place. What is this, a cup final?
    • 25 mins to K.O.: Friend of the account/blog TBWT No.24 Vanessa Tan is not wearing her GK jersey. No.1 Sarrinah will be between the posts instead. How did she get out of this one? 🤣
    • 35 mins to K.O.: The gates are open! This weekend will the last set of games before SGWPL takes another break for internationals. The Lionesses will be taking on Macua on home soil at the National Stadium Jalan Besar Stadium!
    • 90 mins to K.O.: What to expect:
      • LCSWT will probably want to score a goal as soon as possible just to reassure themselves that the GIWT defeat was a fluke – No.2 Madison Telmer, No. 9 Raeka Ee and No. 20 Dorcus Chu should start ahead of their younger teammates.
      • If TBWT pick up anything from the GIWT vs. LCSWT game, they might try defending with a low block. It takes a lot of commitment tho to stay the course and get battered while waiting for that one mistake to take advantage of.
    • 2 hours to K.O.: Anything less than 19-0 and I will ask for my money back.

“It’s a good wake-up call. The girls now understand that we are not invincible. Each of us have to take ownership of our individual roles, as well as fine-tune our style of play together as a team to regain our winning formula,” says LCSWT captain Umairah in the match preview article.
    • 24 hours to K.O.: Here we go! A bruised LCSWT – after their 2-1 loss to GIWT last weekend – will be looking to redeem themselves and reestablish their lead at the top of the table.

Meanwhile, TBWT have lost their last three matches 7-1, 4-0 and 2-0 to SAWFC, GIWT and TPUWT respectively.

Uneven match-up you say? Better close both eyes for this one… it’s gonna be a mauling and then some.

    • GIWT are celebrating like they won the league (leaders).
    • FT (90+6′): GIWT 2-1 LCSWT
    • 89′: Masterclass.

Everyone is inside the GIWT box fighting over the ball right now. GIWT No.3 Hamizah nudges the ball right to GIWT No.16 Nurerwadah — just enough to deny LSCWT No.9 Raeke Ee from getting to it. Wadah hoofs the ball away.

      GIWT 2-1 LCSWT
    • 85′: GOOOAL FOR LCSWT!!!

On her second attempt, LCSWT No.23 Sarah dribbles outside the GIWT penalty box on the left. She cuts the ball back to No.2 Madison Telmer. Telmer cooly slots the ball home for LCSWT’s first.

      GIWT 2-1 LCSWT
    • 79′: This is why I cannot bear to watch football. GIWT No.17 Azreena clashes right into LCSWT GK Beatrice Tan as she chases a long ball in the LCSWT half. Beatrice is fine. Azreena is down and motionless. The ref is calling for the stretcher.

Update: She is back up and has returned to the game! #GeylangBoleh!

      GIWT 2-0 LCSWT
    • 76′: LCSWT is fighting hard inside the GIWT box. GIWT No.7 Farhanah blocks a LCSWT No.9 shot right at the penalty spot.

      GIWT 2-0 LCSWT
    • 70′: GOOOAL FOR GIWT!!!

There is a GIWT corner kick on the right. Someone from GIWT took it and someone from GIWT headed it into the LCSWT goal.

Improbably, GIWT are now leading LCSWT by two goals to nil!

      GIWT 2-0 LCSWT
    • 68′: GOOOAL FOR GIWT!!!

GIWT No.20 beats LCSWT No.4 to a loose ball at the top of the centre circle inside the LCSWT half. She makes a strong, solo run towards the LCSWT goal and shoots from near the penalty spot with only the LCSWT GK left to beat. SHE SCORES!

      GIWT 1-0 LCSWT
    • 67′: Confirmed x5. LCSWT No.9 Raeka Ee loses the ball on the right to a waiting defender at the edge of the box after an exhausting run from the middle of the pitch.

      GIWT 0-0 LCSWT
    • 65′: The Geylang drums are louder than the LCSWT youth choir. But not bad la, considering they don’t have any instruments.

      GIWT 0-0 LCSWT
    • 60′: LCSWT No.9 Raeka Ee outruns two GIWT defenders straight down the centre of the pitch. With only the GK left to beat inside the box, she shoots for the far post on the right. She misses by the smallest of margins.

      GIWT 0-0 LCSWT
    • 58′: LCSWT No.2 Madison Telmer is subbed on. She will be the difference maker.

      GIWT 0-0 LCSWT
    • 50′: Confirmed x4. LCSWT No.9 Raeka Ee chases the ball all the way to the edge of the GIWT box. GIWT No.3 Hamizah catches up with her and doesn’t panic tackle her opponent. Instead, she calmly contains her and Ee is unable to take a shot at goal.

      Good defending is criminally underrated.

      GIWT 0-0 LCSWT
    • 2H K.O.: The LCS support team have arrived from watching the men’s game (LCS 7-1 ALB) at Bishan Stadium. The youth choir is joining in too.

      GIWT 0-0 LCSWT
    • HT: GIWT 0-0 LCSWT
    • 40′: Triple confirmed. LCSWT No.9 Raeka Ee takes the ball from a pass and turns near the centre outside the GIWT penalty box but there are three GIWT players near her to contest for possession.

There is a cost to this of course, with GIWT committing only two players in forward positions near the halfway line (No.10 and No.20). That is a lot of ground to cover for a counter-attack.

      GIWT 0-0 LCSWT
    • 35′: Most of the play is happening in the GIWT half but the GIWT team is able to cope with the pressure, often choosing to punt the ball out to the sidelines. A nil-nil scoreline will be a good result to take into the interval.

      GIWT 0-0 LCSWT
    • 30′: GIWT capitan No.11 Mas has been vocally rallying her team on during pauses in play.

She seems to have taken a knock and is lying facedown motionless on the pitch inside the GIWT box.

She is able to stand up eventually but has to be supported as she walks out of the pitch with an injured right leg.

      GIWT 0-0 LCSWT
    • 23′: Confirmed again. This time there are three GIWT players, including No.3 and 22, waiting for LCSWT No.9 Raeka Ee near the GIWT penalty box. She is fouled and LCSWT is awarded a free kick. No.8 Wani takes it and hits the ball over just slightly the GIWT goal.

      GIWT 0-0 LCSWT
    • 20′: Confirmed. GIWT No.3 Hamizah is able to deal with LCSWT No.9 Raeka Ee on a 1v1. She dribbles the ball away from the six yard box to safety and passes it to No.7 Farhanah on the right.

      GIWT 0-0 LCSWT
    • 16′: GIWT No.25 with a crictical sliding tackle inside the six-yard box to deny LCSWT a scoring opportunity on the LCSWT’s right. The consequent corner kick results in a goal but LCSWT is ruled offside. No goal.

      GIWT 0-0 LCSWT
    • 15′: GIWT looks more explosive on the counter vis-a-vis LCSWT, who has slightly more possession so far.

      GIWT 0-0 LCSWT
    • 10′: LCSWT won a couple of free kicks on the right in between the halfway line and the GIWT penalty box. GIWT has been able to defend both set pieces cohesively as a unit.

      GIWT 0-0 LCSWT
    • K.O.: GIWT 0-0 LCSWT

    • 5 mins to K.O.: LCSWT No.2 Madison Telmer and No.20 Docus Chu are not in the starting XI for LCSWT.

The LCS youth academy/supporters are happily singing away even before the game has started. Last day of school holidays… enjoy!
    • 15 mins to K.O.: Do you know what is the best thing about doing a match commentary with LCSWT playing? Their official social media team is the best in the league.

And the worst thing is? They score a lot of goals… some say way too many for the health of the local football ecosystem but hey, you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.
    • 30 mins to K.O.: Both teams are out on the pitch going through their warm-up routines. GIWT No.11 Mas runs in belatedly from somewhere to join her team. It looks like all their key players are available for the match.
    • 60 mins to K.O.: Things to look forward to:
      • LCSWT to start No.9 Raeka Ee and No.20 Dorcus Chu as outright strikers.
      • GIWT No.11 Mastura / No.22 Wan to lob a few long balls forward.
      • GIWT to defend with 5-6 players in a low block for most of the game.
    • 90 mins to K.O.: League leaders LCSWT will look to cement their position at the top with a win tonight; will GIWT quietly acquiesce? Me thinks not. Let’s goooal!
  • >> [SGWPL] Match Commentary: BKWT 0-2 TPUWT | 22 Jun 2024, 1930hrs, CCK Stadium

*No commentary for this match because I was trying to record BKWT’s first goal of the season on video. BKWT had a flurry of runs into the TPUWT half late in the game but they just couldn’t string the passes needed to get one of their players into the box to shoot.

15 mins to K.O.: I am here to do one thing and one thing only: to document BKWT’s first goal of the season. #HalaTigers

  • >> [SGWPL] Match Commentary: SAWFC 2-0 HUWT | 22 Jun 2024, 1700hrs, CCK Stadium

    • FT: SAWFC 2-0 HUWT
    • 87′: HUWT have seven players in their own half defending against three SAWFC players. Attack already!

      SAWFC 2-0 HUWT
    • 80′: GOOOAL FOR SAWFC!!!

No.13 Yongkul cushions the ball down from a throw-in on the left side of the pitch just outside the HUWT penalty box. No.17 Reena collects the downed ball and dribbles through a couple of defenders along the edge of the box. She shoots at the near post and the HUWT GK is unable to reach the ball. Goal!

      SAWFC 2-0 HUWT
    • 75′: HUWT make an attempt on goal inside the SAWFC box but SAWFC No.10 Sunisa wins possession and dribbles away with the ball. How many caps does she have for Thailand, again?

      SAWFC 1-0 HUWT
    • 71′: SAWFC No.8 Nursafura lobs a ball forward from inside the SAWFC half. No.17 Reena Esther collects the ball and drifts left and up the pitch with it. She passes the ball to an onrushing No.13 Yongkul in the centre. Yongkul shoots from just outside the HUWT box. The ball sails over the HUWT goal.

      Good play!

      SAWFC 1-0 HUWT
    • 67′: GOOOAL FOR SAWFC!!!

Fantastic build-up play by No.13 Yongkul on the right. She runs down the pitch and passes left to No.17 Reena who is at the right side of the semi-circle. Reena then passes the ball left to No.7 Carmen who is on the left side of the semi. Carmen takes a hopeful shot at the far post from just inside the penalty box and scores!!!

      SAWFC 1-0 HUWT
    • 65: SAWFC No.7, 13, and 17 combine on the right to bring the ball all the way up into the HUWT box. No.13 Yongkul finds herself in exactly the same spot as when she scored one of her three goals vs. TBWT. However, she is closed down by two HUWT defenders.

The HUWT coach is audibly not happy with his team’s performance.

      SAWFC 0-0 HUWT
    • 63: HUWT No.12 gets a chance to run the ball into goal in the six-yard box but SAWFC GK rushes out to grab it. Best chance of the half so far for HUWT.

      SAWFC 0-0 HUWT
    • 62: HUWT seems to be reluctant to commit more players forward. Their back five are keeping close to the three SAWFC forwards (No.7, 13, 17).

      SAWFC 0-0 HUWT
    • 60: SAWFC No.17 Reena having to fight off three players surrounding her in the midfield. She escapes the surround with the ball and passes it backwards.

      SAWFC 0-0 HUWT
    • 56′: Here come the planes again. SAWFC with 10 players are somehow creating more chances than HUWT at the moment.

      SAWFC 0-0 HUWT
    • 55′: SAWFC No.13 and No.17 trying to take on five HUWT defenders again in the final third. The ball goes out of play on the right.

      SAWFC 0-0 HUWT
    • 51′: Wow… we are being treated to a six plane fly-by in formation right in front of the stands. This coming after a Chinook flew around with the Singapore flag. NDP coming. Elections will come after NDP.

      SAWFC 0-0 HUWT
    • 50′: HUWT starting the second half brightly with another long-range attempt from outside the box.

HUWT No.99 Sitianiwati seems to be dropping into midfield to feed the ball forward vis-a-vis being the lone striker up front in the first half. Southgate should let Harry Kane do something similar imo.

      SAWFC 0-0 HUWT
    • 2H K.O.: SAWFC 0-0 HUWT
    • HT: SAWFC 0-0 HUWT
    • 44′: SAWFC No.13 Yongkul passes the ball to No.17 Reena from the edge of the HUWT box on the right. After a bit of a scramble, Reena finds herself open in front of the goal and fires a shot from inside the six-yard box. The ball flies high over the goal. She knew she should have converted the chance.

      SAWFC 0-0 HUWT
    • 42′: SAWFC No.7 Carmen and No.17 threaten the HUWT keeper inside the box but the presence of five HUWT players is sufficient to kill off the attack.

      SAWFC 0-0 HUWT
    • 37′: RED CARD FOR SAWFC!!!

No.20 Bhanu trips HUWT No.15 as a HWUWT counter-attack was developing. She receives a second yellow card without hesitation from the ref. Her first yellow was for pulling on a HUWT player’s arm after losing a 1v1. SAWFC down to 10.

      SAWFC 0-0 HUWT
    • 35′: SAWFC with the bulk of possession and applying pressure now. HUWT just putting numbers into their own half in order to defend. HUWT No.99 making every chance to count-attack when they do get back possession but SAWFC No.6 and No.10 are holding up the SAWFC back line expertly.

      SAWFC 0-0 HUWT
    • 27′: SAWFC No.13 Yongkul completes the perfect pass to No.17 Reena down the centre and Reena races into the HUWT box with the ball. She shoots straight at the goal but HUWT GK is right in the path of the ball and she saves it cleanly.

      SAWFC 0-0 HUWT
    • 25′: Inaugural Most Underrated Player Award winner SAWFC No.20 Bhanu doing Bhanu stuff. She slide tackles the ball out to the sideline just as HUWT were about to break away from near the halfway line on the left.

      SAWFC 0-0 HUWT
    • 20′: HUWT haven’t been shy to try long-range shots from outside the box. None of them have troubled SAWFC GK yet and have gone out instead.

      SAWFC 0-0 HUWT
    • 17′: SAWFC No.7 Carmen misses an xG 1.0 chance after HUWT GK fails to collect the ball in the six-yard box. It was just her and the keeper but HUWT GK picks herself up and grabs the ball on a second try.

      SAWFC 0-0 HUWT
    • 15′: HUWT wins a second corner, this time on the left. SAWFC GK Pamela safely collects the inbound kick. HUWT have been able to work off both flanks.

      SAWFC 0-0 HUWT
    • 10′: Both sides have even possession of the ball so far. HUWT wins the first corner on the right but no good scoring chance comes from it.

      SAWFC 0-0 HUWT
    • K.O.: SAWFC 0-0 HUWT

    • 15 mins to K.O.: Looks like a full SAWFC squad to me. New signing No.17 Reena Esther is on the pitch. She just completed ~20 kicks of the ball into the air without dropping it.
    • 25 mins to K.O.: I don’t know the HUWT that well at all… the last time I watched them play, they refused to let BKWT score their first goal of the season and beat them 3-0 instead at ITE College East. TBF, every team has refused to let BKWT score so far.

The regular Aerion fans are slowly streaming in… there’s four of them right now. And the BKWT coaching staff are sitting behind me (again)!
    • 35 mins to K.O.: I’m in! And I get spotted immediately by friends of the account/blog SAWFC No.6 @fondachai and No.4 @jasminekua just as they head out to the pitch for their warmup routine. Hi! 👋
    • 45 mins to K.O.: SAWFC will move up to 3rd place if they win this match while HUWT just needs a draw to overtake GIWT for 3rd.

The match is going to start soon but the gates are not open yet. “4:30pm then we open,” explained the ActiveSG staff.
    • 4 hours to K.O.: The Sun is out – perfect timing to dry up the pitch a bit!

SAWFC should be razor-sharp for this game after their 7-1 trashing of TBWT earlier in the week, with No.13 Yongkul securing a hat-trick. But HUWT is no pushover and is one spot above SAWFC in the table, so this should be quite a promising matchup.
    • 13 hours to K.O.: Speaking of transfers, SAWFC brought in a new signing of their own all the way from the Seychelles! No kidding, if I were to give you a map of the world and ask you to point out where Seychelles is, could you?

“The Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, off East Africa. It’s home to numerous beaches, coral reefs and nature reserves, as well as rare animals such as giant Aldabra tortoises.” – Google dot com

Anyway, welcome Reena Esther to Singapore and the SGWPL! Congrats on your first two goals – please help SAWFC beat LCSWT 4-0 when you meet them later in the reverse matchup!
    • 16 hours to K.O.: I guess the biggest news over the SGWPL mid-season break has to be that the dominant LCSWT just did a Bayern Munich and signed four new players, including two from BGTRWT.

“The inclusion of these players will foster strong and healthy competition [within the squad] as we head into a crucial period of the season,” says LCSWT Head Coach Daniel Ong in the club’s story release.

With two football campaigns to conquer – one local and one overseas – LCSWT will definitely benefit from the promising additions to the squad.

As for the rest of the SGWPL, this is your Xabi Alonso-Bayern Leverkusen moment! Don’t stop believing that even the mighty Bayern Munich can be beaten.

    • I’m back. SGWPL is back. What Euros? Come to CCK this weekend and watch four(!) free football matches featuring the best women footballers in Singapore return after a mid-season break (sorry Easties, welcome to the North!).
