• >> [SGPWT] Match Commentary: IDNWT 5-1 SGPWT | 28 May 2024, 2000hrs SGT, GBK Madya Stadium, Jarkata

    • [Post Match] IDNWT goals in the second half:

64′: Claudia (freak long ball from outside the box).

67′: Marsela (freak long ball from outside the box).

      86′: Claudia (soft penalty call).

90+5′: Reva (literally the last minute of the game).

It will always be FT: 1-1 for me. 😇
    • FT: IDNWT 5-1 SGPWT

There is no way this scoreline even comes close to describing the chances and determination of SGPWT to get something out of this game. But it is what it is.

More than one IDNWT player is tearing as the home team takes to the centre circle, standing at attention as the National Anthem is being played. It always means something for the other side, too.
    • 90+5′: GOOOAL FOR IDNWT!!!

An almost exact repeat of the situation just one minute ago sees SGPWT GK Beatrice go up against IDNWT No.10 1v1. Beatrice does not make the save this time.

      IDNWT 5-1 SGPWT
    • 90+4′: SGPWT GK Beatrice makes a 1v1 sliding save in her own box against a charging IDNWT No.9.

The IDNWT player’s foot catches the chin of Beatrice as she flies over her after the save is made.

Beatrice blinks her eyes hard, picks herself up and plays on.

      🫡

      IDNWT 4-1 SGPWT
    • 87′: GOOOAL FOR IDNWT (PEN)!!!

The ref says that SGPWT No.10 made contact with an IDNWT player inside the SGPWT penalty box and caused her to fall.

IDNWT No.9 steps up to take the pen. She slots the ball home to the back of the bottom left corner of the SGPWT goal. Cruel.

      IDNWT 4-1 SGPWT
    • 75′: SGPWT GK Beatrice saves a strong direct free kick from outside the box. She signals her teammates to go forward, forcefully lifting her right arm towards the IDNWT half.

      IDNWT 3-1 SGPWT
    • 67′: GOOOAL FOR IDNWT!!!

IDNWT No.18 launches a long and (very) high from outside the SGPWT box on the right. The ball sails over everyone and drops into the far post of the SGPWT goal behind SGPWT GK Beatrice.

      IDNWT 3-1 SGPWT
    • 63′: GOOOAL FOR IDNWT!!!

SGPWT had a flurry of chances in the past ~5mins but play is transferred over to the SGPWT half with IDNWT being awarded a free kick on the left just outside the SGPWT box. The free kick is taken short and IDNWT No.9 receives it. She turns and shoots a curling shot towards the far post. Goal!

      IDNWT 2-1 SGPWT
    • 51′: Lioness captain No.18 Rosnani strips the ball away from IDNWT No.9 with as sliding tackle just outside the edge of the SGPWT box on the right. The ball goes out of play.

      IDNWT 1-1 SGPWT
    • 48′: It looks like IDNWT has assigned three players to guard their left flank (SGPWT’s right flank) against SGPWT No.6 Farhanah.

She is unable to cross the ball despite reaching outside of the IDNWT box on the right as the ball is taken away from her by an IDNWT player.

      IDNWT 1-1 SGPWT
    • 2H K.O.: No.4 Chloe Koh subs in for No.23 Nicole Lim.

      IDNWT 1-1 SGPWT
    • [Warning] This SPL and SGWPL team-neutral account (except for LCS) is totally pro-SGP when the National Teams play.

      IDNWT 1-1 SGPWT
    • IDNWT had five corners vs. SGPWT’s one in the first half.

Bravo, SGPWT GK Beatrice Tan and defence!

      IDNWT 1-1 SGPWT
    • Belated joke (because I was hunting for a watchable live stream link): Now you know who to go to if you need a really powerful VPN. 😉

      IDNWT 1-1 SGPWT
    • HT: 109-ranked IDNWT 1-1 137-ranked SGPWT
    • 39′: SGPWT No.6 Farhanah storms down the right flank but is tripped by IDNWT No.7.

IDNWT No.7 receives a yellow card for the foul.

      IDNWT 1-1 SGPWT
    • 36′: SGPWT No.9 Mastura makes a critical interception just outside of the SGPWT penalty box in the centre to cut off a through ball to an IDNWT forward player. That was close.

      IDNWT 1-1 SGPWT
    • 31′: SGPWT No.6 Farhanah and No.23 Nicole Lim make a fast break towards the IDNWT goal, catching the IDNWT defence completely out of position. No goal comes from the effort though in the end.

      IDNWT 1-1 SGPWT
    • 26′: ~600 people are watching this game LIVE on Facebook.

That’s about 10 times the typical crowd at CCK and about 15 times the crowd at ITE College East.

      Good job, people!

      IDNWT 1-1 SGPWT
    • 19′: GOOOAL FOR SGPWT!!!

SGPWT No.21 Venetia Lim takes a corner kick on the left. She floats the ball into the mixer near the far post. An unmarked SGPWT No.20 Dorcus Chu drifts into the six-yard box to head the ball into the IDNWT goal. The ball takes a bounce on the ground before crossing the goal line. She scores!!!

      Game on.

    • 2 hrs to K.O.: The last time the Lionesses met Indonesia was on 10 Oct 2022 at the Jalan Besar Stadium. In that match, @farhanahruhaizat scored her first goal for Singapore! 🔥⚽️🚀

In the 86’ and trailing 0-1, No.8 Dhaniyah intercepted a stray pass in the centre circle. She passes it forward to No.16 @lilaatan, who chooses to pass it backwards to No.3 Nurhidayu to develop the play.

Nurhidayu spots an unmarked Dhaniyah nearby and makes the pass to her. Dhaniyah receives the ball and forwards it to No.10 @izzatirosnii on the left. Izzati perfectly deflects the pass to an onrushing No.6 Farhanah right at the edge of the Indonesia penalty box on the left.

Farhanah takes a couple of shuffles into the box and chips a magnificent overhead shot into the far post of the Indonesian goal. 1-1 the score; the crucial equalizer secured.

The Lionesses take on Indonesia in Jarkata today (28 May, 2000hrs SGT).
  • >> [GFC] Things Which Keep Me Going As A Parent Of An Aspiring Footballer | Q&A with @jenny_tcl (GFC, 2024)

GOOOAL FC Special: GFC had the privilege of engaging with parents of aspiring local footballers in a series of Q&As. We asked them how, in their own unique ways, they raise up their children to become good sportspeople and more. Here is what @jenny_tcl, Mom of Big C and Small C, two promising local female footballers, has to say.

Q: Are you generally a “whatever makes you happy will make me happy” kind of parent or more “whatever makes me happy will make you happy”?

I am a “whatever makes you happy will make me happy” kind of mum. As long as my daughters are happy, I am happy and contented. 😊

Q: Have you always been this way? Were you brought up this way too?

During my time, it was a bit different the way I was brought up but I was still a happy kid. Now, I just want my girls to be happy as I am a single mum and the girls need my love. 💗

Q: What are some of the hardest things to trust your child with? Taking care of themselves? Trusting they will hang out with the right people?

As a chill mum, I trust my girls as they are mature and become independent and they know what can and cannot be done.

Q: What are some milestones you celebrate with your child? Made it through a tough training programme? Contributed to a game or made a difference to the team?

Playing for Singapore and every match be it win or lose, we will celebrate it as part of the development of the girls and the team.

Q: Do you have any message for parents who are thinking about signing up their children for training overseas?

Go for it. Let them be out of their comfort zone. Different exposure is good for the player’s development.

  • >> [GFC] Things Which Keep Me Going As A Parent Of An Aspiring Footballer | Q&A with @mohamed_iqmal_aziz’s Mom (GFC, 2024)

GOOOAL FC Special: GFC had the privilege of engaging with parents of aspiring local footballers in a series of Q&As. We asked them how, in their own unique ways, they raise up their children to become good sportspeople and more. Here is what Mom of Iqmal Aziz, a youth goalkeeper in training, has to say.

“Victory is having done your Best!
    If you’ve done your Best,

    you’ve WON!”
    – Iqmal the GK Mom

Q: Are you generally a “whatever makes you happy will make me happy” kind of parent or more of the “whatever makes me happy will make you happy” kind?

While there is no wrong and right answer for this, a balance of each approach can be effective.

Q: What are some milestones you celebrate with your children? Are your own standards for your children very high? Or is each child different (some are self-motivated, others need to push a little)?

I truly believe in recognising the child’s progression and giving him a pat on his back should you know he has given his 110% in terms of effort!

Personally, to me the term high standards is subjective, but knowing that my child goes out there and displays Good Teamwork, Excellent Sportmanship, trying the hardest and the best he can on the task he is given to do, that is most important!

As a mom to 3 sports children, I often aim to strike a balance between nurturing my children’s potential and allowing them to develop at their own pace.

Q: How do you deal with injuries? Calmly? Part of the process?

Whether they play high-impact sports or low-contact activities, one can’t run away from injuries. Even with all the precautions taken, one can still be down with injury. It is something we cannot foresee.

I personally try my best to practise calmness, assess the injury, work from there and focus on recovery and emotional support for the child. As a mom, injuries are the last thing I want my child to encounter but things do happen, and injuries are inevitable.

Behind those unfortunate injuries, it teaches our children skills like resilience, adaptability and perseverance.

Q: How do you find time for your own self; to do your own things?

I need to take good care of myself before I am able to take care of my kids. Happy Mom! = Happy Kids!

Planning my day and week ahead is something I have also worked on and it truly helps me get going. It’s challenging but it’s possible.
