If the opposition likes to field three centre backs and you choose *not* to press them aggressively when out-of-possession, it almost always means that you will have a numerical advantage over them within a smaller, compact zone in front of your goal. This compactness will allow you to man-mark opposition players fully without leaving exploitable gaps as teammates are near enough to shift over to cover for the marker chasing the ball carrier.
